My stay at The Prince Karuizawa was pleasant overall, with spacious rooms and friendly staff really enhancing the experience. However, the logistical challenges of transport and limited dining options definitely put a damper on things. Despite these setbacks, the beautiful surroundings and convenient shopping were big pluses.

Rooms

I stayed in a Garden Twin Room, which was spacious and comfortable, though the decor seemed a bit worn. The views from the room were lovely, and it was great for putting all my ski gear.
Service
8.0
The staff were super helpful, especially when I had to switch rooms. They made me feel welcome, but the language barrier was an issue at times.
Location
7.0
The hotel is close to the shopping plaza and ski area, making it easy to explore. However, it was a bit far from the spa, and the shuttle service could take a while, especially during peak times.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were kinda limited, and I found breakfast to be a bit too pricey for what was offered. Most places closed fairly early, which was inconvenient.
Facilities
7.0
Facilities like the hotspring and library were nice, but I would have liked more dining choices within the hotel itself. The ski rental process was also a bit confusing.

I had a nice stay at The Prince Karuizawa, but it wasn't without its hiccups. The location was close to shopping and I loved the convenience of the shuttle service. However, the atmosphere was often quite noisy with large groups of tourists, and I felt the staff could have been more knowledgeable about local attractions. Overall, I enjoyed my experience but wished for a bit more tranquility and attentive service.

Rooms

The Garden Twin Room I stayed in had beautiful views but was slightly worn. It felt small, especially considering the price I paid.
Service
6.0
While the staff were friendly and helpful, their local knowledge was lacking. I expected better guidance from a 5-star hotel.
Location

The hotel is conveniently located near the shopping area and the JR station, making it easy to get around. However, it is a bit far from the ski area.
Dining

I had a fantastic dinner in the grill restaurant; the view was stunning and the food was great. However, pre-booking is a must since all the dining options are high-end and require reservations.

The onsen was nice but crowded, and I appreciated the shuttle service that made it easier to get around. I also enjoyed the spa and the library area with complimentary refreshments.

My stay at The Prince Karuizawa had its ups and downs. The hotel's proximity to shopping and skiing was a huge plus, making it convenient for families. However, the service I received at the front desk left a lot to be desired. Overall, I enjoyed the comfort of my room and the great breakfast options, but the dining reservations and some staff behavior were disappointing.

I stayed in a lovely Garden Twin Room which was spacious and well-maintained. The decor was nice, but the bathroom felt a bit cramped.
Service
6.0
The service was hit or miss. While some staff were friendly and helpful, I had a frustrating experience with a front desk staff member who was unhelpful during a rainy evening.
Location
9.0
The hotel is perfectly situated near a large shopping outlet and just a short walk from the train station, which made my travels super easy.
Dining
7.0
Dining options were upscale and the food was good, but I found it odd that you needed reservations for all the restaurants. It would’ve been nice to have more casual options nearby.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel had solid amenities, including a shuttle service, which was helpful for getting around. The hot springs on-site were a nice touch, even if they came with a small fee.

My stay at The Prince Karuizawa was a mixed experience. The location was perfect for skiing, and I appreciated the proximity to the JR station (just a short walk), but the service left much to be desired. I encountered a frustrating situation at the front desk which significantly impacted my stay. While the facilities were generally good, they felt a bit outdated and could use renovations.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were quiet and made for a very restful stay. I enjoyed the view of the picturesque lake and mountains, but I did notice some dated decor that might benefit from an upgrade.
Service
5.0
While some staff were polite and friendly, my overall experience with the service was disappointing. I had a particularly negative encounter when trying to call a taxi during a rainstorm, which was handled poorly by the front desk staff.
Location
8.0
The hotel is conveniently located close to the JR station and surrounded by beautiful trees. It’s also near shopping outlets, which was a plus, but I felt it was a bit far from the hot springs.
Dining
6.0
Dining options were mostly high-end and required reservations well in advance. I found the lack of more affordable dining choices surprising, especially considering the hotel's size.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel’s facilities were decent but showed signs of aging. The hot spring was nice, albeit a bit of a trek away. I appreciated the free shuttle service and the availability of ski passes at the front desk.
